College campus safety through Self Defense Awareness
College campus safety through Self Defense Awareness

As a parent of 5 adult children, I know all too well that most parents will do anything for our children’s safety and well being.  As parents we make a huge investment in time and resources to provide them the resources needed to live a successful life.  We provide them education and hours of support through our religious, sporting and social activities -- because we love them.

Yet there is one area in which most of us fail -- Personal Safety.  Have we given them the tools they need to adequately and effectively defend themselves in any situation they may find themselves in; especially when we aren’t around.

Case in point - Years ago, when stationed in Newport RI, we heard a story about a young man we will call him JAS.  His parents provided him an education at a well known university.  One Friday evening he attended a college party. Although he wasn’t drinking another student crashed the party who had been intoxicated and was armed with a knife.  A fight ensued. JAS, adhering to the values he had been taught--to protect others, tried to intervene. Unfortunately, being unaware on how to effectively defend himself and deal with the situation, he was killed in the struggle.

He lost his life and his parents mourn for him. What was to be a successful career was gone due to an unfortunate situation that he was ill prepared to deal with.

It is heart breaking but these types of incidents are all too common for our kids going off to college or entering into the workforce.  Whether being robbed, brutally assaulted, raped, or mugged walking down the street to their dorm room, being unprepared is NOT THE ANSWER.

This year - give the gift of life by providing you loved ones with the tools to handle any situation they may find themselves in by providing them self defense training before they go off to college or their next adventure.

Let’s face it, we are parents and will always be concerned for their physical safety.  However, providing them the tools (that hopefully they never have to use) will help ease our concerns as parents and their concerns as they enter into the world seeking their bright hopes and dreams.

Classes are forming now.  It is not too late.

Sign Up Now For a Complimentary Lesson.  At that time, we will give you an overview of the program and the various options that are available.

The time to learn self defense is not when you are getting attacked!!!  We owe them the life skills to be able to protect themselves and their loved one.
